Welcome, Dr. Grace Msoffe – our new Group A User Representative
We are delighted to announce the election of Dr. Grace Msoffe as the Group A User Representative, succeeding Pascal Soubeiga. Grace was elected following a nomination process involving the Research4Life subcommittees and the User Group. Her three-year term will officially begin at the General Partners Meeting (GPM) on July 21, 2025. However, she will be welcomed to join Executive Council calls before then to familiarize herself with the group and its discussions.
Dr. Grace Msoffe is a Senior Librarian and Director of Library Services at the University of Dodoma, Tanzania. She holds a PhD in Information Science from the University of South Africa and specializes in information access, management, and ICT applications in libraries. With over seven years of experience mentoring library staff, Grace has been actively involved in development projects, research initiatives, consultancies, and capacity-building programs. Grace Msoffe also serves as a Research4Life Country Connector in Tanzania.
Gracian Chimwaza, director of the Information Training & Outreach Centre for Africa and a past chair of the Research4Life Executive Council said:
« We have greatly benefited from having both Group A and Group B user representatives guiding our Partnership over the past few years. Their advocacy ensures that the voices of the user community are heard and that our initiatives stay aligned with their needs.”
As a user representative, Grace will be asked to provide the voice of the user community in the deliberations of the Executive Council, seeking to go beyond advocating from their own perspective or their own institution’s perspective to voicing issues of concern or interest to the broader user community. The user representatives will be expected to share Executive Council report summaries back to the User Group.
We also wish to extend our sincere gratitude to Pascal Soubeiga, the outgoing Group A User Representative, for his dedication and contributions throughout his term.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Grace Msoffe on her new role!
