Welcome new Chair and Vice-Chair of Research4Life Executive Council
We are excited to announce the appointment of Lise as Chair of the Research4Life Executive Council. She succeeds Gracian Chimwaza, who held this role from July 2022 – June 2024. We are also delighted to announce that Professor Tandi Lwoga has been elected Vice-Chair of the Research4Life Executive Council.
Introducing our new Chair: Lise McLeod
Lise has been with Research4Life since 2020 and is the outgoing Vice Chair of the Research4Life Executive Council. In her time with Research4Life, she has played a key role in enhancing operational efficiency and securing vital resources, demonstrating a deep commitment to our mission.
As Head of the WIPO Knowledge Center, Lise oversees the dissemination of WIPO publications and manages the organization’s Library. She also collaborates with the ARDI program team. Lise brings extensive experience in knowledge management, strategic planning, and international collaboration. Her expertise is invaluable as we continue to expand our initiatives and reach. Lise says,
“I am really looking forward to supporting Research4Life in its goal to increase research participation from the Global South. This public private partnership continually demonstrates how it benefits its community of users. I will do my best to help to advance the ambitions of its membership.”
Meet our new Vice-Chair: Thandi Professor Tandi Lwoga
Tandi Lwoga will assume her new role immediately following our 2024 General Partners Meeting, scheduled for the week of July 22. She succeeds Lise McLeod, who will transition to the position of Chair, taking over from Gracian Chimwaza.
With a diverse background, Tandi has served as a Research4Life user representative (2019-2021) and is currently a Rector at the College of Business Education (CBE). She has been actively involved in research, training, and librarianship. She will leverage her wide range of expertise to further Research4Life’s goal of providing equitable access to scientific knowledge for researchers and policymakers in low- and middle-income countries. She says,
“I am enthusiastic about contributing to Research4Life’s mission to foster an inclusive, diverse, and equitable scholarly environment. This initiative plays a key role in overcoming barriers and providing equal opportunities for researchers from the Global South to make a significant difference. I look forward to advancing this mission and working towards a more accessible and inclusive future for research.”
